Tell it like it is Jairo, who has had several previous surgeries to repair his cleft lip and cleft palate, grew impatient with Operation Rainbow volunteer Joe Nicotra (r). After tolerating having his picture taken, and introductions to each member of the operating team, turned to Joe and said, "hurry up and knock me out."

Special girl, unique case.Yesterday morning, this young girl woke her father and asked him to take her to see the Operation Rainbow team "to be healed". She has an extremely large cleft palate, visible in the photo above. Her unique surgery is scheduled for this afernoon, with doctors from both the U.S. and Mexico doing the case.

One more look. Rodrigo looks wide eyed at Dr. Manny Pena during post op rounds prior to being discharged to go home. Rodrigo and his family have been invited back to the hospital for "final rounds" on Friday, July 14, when Operation Rainbow volunteers have a chance to say good bye to the patients.

Anticipation. A little girl and her father wait outside Hospital del Nino in Villahermosa, Mexico. The volunteer medical team arrived Friday afternoon and toured the hospital in advance of patients screenings which begin Saturday morning. Friday July 7, 2000.
