I moved to russia in January, 1992 after receiving my Bachelor's at Cornell University in Political Sciences.
I had worked at the school paper and in several internships, etc, but had no working experience in photojournalism. my break was an assignment for the NYTimes Sunday magazine shortly after my arrival ( I had met photo editor Kathy Ryan at the 1991 Eddy Adams workshop), and I was hired on at the Moscow NYTimes bureau on contract a few months later.
I did that until September 1995, when I quit to devote my full-time attention to the growing business opportunities in the field of photography here. the biggest to date has been the creation of Russia's first full-service professional photography lab, financed by Kodak. Other ventures include a commercial photo studio and a school photography service.
I am 28 years old.
