  1. I see this as being the trend. Note that all of the paper’s that have folded this year have been from large, metro areas. The way that I see this, it’s the small, community newspapers that (ironically) will be the profitable publications. They have stronger “bonds” to the communities they service and there’s not a large number of outside options to get local news in these locations.It’s sad to see these once prominent media giants whither away.

  2. I have no idea what “it” is, but someone, somewhere has a business model…and they will find opportunity…and 10 years from now, we’ll all say, “Why didn’t I think of that….”

    Okay, maybe 20 years

  3. I think it’s mostly because everyone is trying to fit the traditional media paradigm into the web, and it’s just not working well.
