I’ve been following the Twitter “tweets” from a Google teacher Academy led by Mark Wagner and was reminded of this EDS commercial. The presenter uses this commercial as a kick off question about how 21st Education is like “building airplanes in the sky”
I think there is a potential strategic planning excercise in this commercial: bring IT, administrative, student support, faculty, students and others together, show this clip and then to ask who is represented by the actors in the commercial?
Plane Builders
Flight attendants
Passengers
Child passenger in close up
And people we don’t see, such as
Pilots
Airline company
Then start a discussion about “building airplanes in the sky” and how it relates to the educational technology of today.
Bonus points if your team can ask and discuss: should we even be building airplanes?

[...] » What Part Do You Play in Education Technology Deployment F.R. “Fritz” Nordengren Edublogger F.R. “Fritz” Nordengren posts a riff on a welcome activity I use that includes an old EDS commercial about “Building Airplanes in The Sky” – which is an obvious metaphor for educational chancge. Fritz asks “who is represented by the actors in the commercial?” That would make an interesting activity.
